10 Delicious Keto-Friendly Snacks for Your Next Adventure: Stay Low-Carb on the Go!

Lifestyle 10 Delicious Keto-Friendly Snacks for Your Next Adventure: Stay Low-Carb on the Go!

Hello, Lunatics!

So… I went to see the cardiologist for a routine visit this past week. He, in so many words, say it would be great if I “lost 10%” of my body weight. What I heard was “drop 25 pounds so you can help your heart do it’s job.” Got it, Doc! So, I am getting on the saddle again. A slow, but progressive saddle that focuses again on my Keto/Low Carb lifestyle. I mean, it makes sense.

Now, you know I love to travel and I love to eat. I mean, what else is there to do in this world!?

For those of you embarking on journeys near and far, knowing which snacks to pack can make all the difference in maintaining your health goals. Today, I am diving into a hand-picked selection of keto-friendly travel snacks that are both delicious and easy to carry while satisfying your belly, ensuring your adventures are fueled by energy and flavor. Oooh! That was a lot! Okay, let’s dive in!

1. Nuts and Seeds: Nature’s Crunchy Delight

Rich in healthy fats and protein, nuts and seeds are a classic staple in the keto traveler’s snack arsenal. Consider these options for a quick and nutritious bite:

  • Pecans
  • Macadamia nuts
  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Brazil Nuts
  • Pine nuts
  • Chestnuts
  • Walnuts
  • Cashews

Try to stay away from peanuts. I believe Dr. Berry said they are not nuts, but they are legumes, and are higher on carbs than the ones above.

2. Cheese Crisps: A Cheesy, Guilt-Free Crunch

When the craving for something crispy strikes, cheese crisps come to the rescue. They’re packed with flavor and provide that much-desired crunch without the carbs.

3. Dark Chocolate: A Decadent Treat

Indulge your sweet tooth with dark chocolate, ensuring it’s high in cocoa content and low in sugar. This treat can be both satisfying and keto-compliant.

4. Olives: Savory Bits of Goodness

Olives are a great snack that’s easy to pack. They’re full of heart-healthy fats and can add a burst of flavor to your on-the-go munching.

These are great if, around that “time of the month”, you get cravings for something salty! So yummy!

5. Jerky: Protein-Packed and Portable

I am not necessarily crazy for these, but… for a satiating protein kick, opt for jerky or biltong. Choose varieties that are low in sugar to keep it keto-friendly. Always check the label for added sugars or carbs!

Remember, only because it says “Keto” or “Low Carb” on the label, it doesn’t always mean it is good for you.

6. Avocado: Creamy and Nutritious

One avocado, two avocados, three avocados… rumba! I know I am being silly, but hear me out. Avocados are an excellent source of potassium and fiber. Bring along a ripe avocado, a small knife, and a spoon, and you’ve got yourself a nutrient-dense snack that’s as fresh as it gets.

I add a sprinkle of lemon and pink Himalayan salt and wepa, we’re now cooking!

7. Hard-Boiled Eggs: Simply Filling

Pre-pack some hard-boiled eggs for a snack that’s high in protein and fats. They’re incredibly convenient, especially when you’re in need of a substantial bite.

How? Place them in a ziplock bag. Especially, if you’re going camping or if you’re going to the beach. They are absolutely great!

8. Nut Butter Packs: Squeeze and Enjoy

Individual packs of nut butter are a travel-friendly way to enjoy a creamy and filling snack. They pair well with celery sticks if you need some extra crunch.

If you can’t find them in those little ketchup-like packets – they are usually in the peanut butter aisle – you can make your own. Remember those little jewelry-sized storage baggies? You can get them in the crafting session at Wal-Mart for pennies on the dollar. Go get some and pre-fill them at home. They are great for on-the-run snacks!

9. Fat Bombs

These are usually not sold in stores. The trick with these is that they have to be kept in a cooling container like an insulated lunch bag or one of those metal thermos because they are usually made with coconut oil, cream cheese and other ingredients that will eventually soften or melt altogether.

There are a gazzillion recipes on Pinterest. I may share a couple of ideas soon, so you can try making them at home. Here is a trick that works for me: FREEZE the fat-bombs. You should be able to keep them in your container longer than if you don’t freeze them.

10. Veggie Sticks and Guacamole: Fresh and Zesty

Bring along some sliced cucumbers, bell peppers, or other low-carb veggies, and dip them in guacamole for a refreshing and tasty snack. Make a cream cheese with Everything BUT the bagel seasoning, and you’re in for a treat that’s both delicious and low in carbs!

Traveling on a keto diet doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice taste or convenience. With these keto-friendly travel snacks, you’ll be well-equipped to handle any adventure that comes your way. Remember, preparation is key—take the time to plan and pack your snacks, so you’re never caught off guard when hunger strikes.
